You're semi correct, they may have actually started in late 1981 but as 1982 models.

True.
And what some people may not know, there was no Z28 in '75 or '76.
The Mustang was Pinto based, no Z28s, low compression ratios with bad catalytic converters and air pumps...man those were some seriously DARK times.
