The same reason cars have more cupholders then seats now. Marketing.
I didn't say 18s were no advantage over 15s. What I said is there is very little to gain from 17s to 18s, especially given the added costs of the wheels & tires and added propensity for road damage. RIF. Next time read the answer, numbnuts.
