reputation has a lot to do with what car people buy, this is true. if it was so easy to win people back, GM, Ford and Chrysler would have already done it. the only way to get people back to american cars is to educate them. ask 10 people where their money goes after the purchase and 9 of them don't know or don't care. if they know that one car equals ten jobs for americans, their point of view adjusts. that is, if they care about anyone other than themselves. that also has a lot to do with what kind of car people buy - how ego-centric are they, exactly? if they found out that their buying decision affected people's dinner tables, would it make a difference?
but how many import companies are playing on that now and are saying their cars are built in the USA
