By that arguement the Z06 is a misnomer because it has an LS6/LS7 and no larger fuel tank. Or the Camaro SS shouldn't have an LS1- that's historically a B-body motor.
It's all bunk. They will do whatever with whatever, history be damned unless they can ca$h in on it.
