Opening night review from a friend of mine on a zep board:
Quote:
It's 3:40 am.. just returned to my room... I'll make this brief because I must sleep, but I have a bunch of video I'll post later with a better review.
for now:
GO SEE THIS SHOW.
holy ****. .If it costs you $500, go see them. I was at the end of the 5th row from the stage and move up to the stage itself (left side) after the first two songs and watched the rest from 10 yards away from the band.
They ******* rocked. I could find nothing wrong. They kept wolfie's mic down enough that I didn't hear the 'bad singing' that was reported from LA rehearsals. He's really a good bass player, too. nice solid bottm.
So many hot chicks down front...
Eddie's solo was ******* BLISTERING. He played all the little bits like little guitars intro, cathedral and that kind of thing..
these old bastards rocked like 25 year olds for about 2.5 hrs - STRAIGHT. no breaks. they hardly ever even stopped at all. I don't know how they did it.
They're in GREAT shape and REALLY seemed to be having a good time - I was right next to them and you could see on thier faces that they were glad to be back with a crowd as wild as it was. When they stopped after the first two songs and said something like "well, it took us 20 years," you couldn't hear the rest of it because the crowd nearly lifted the roof off the place.
anyway, so much for the shortness... much more later when I get a decent broadband connection. (no I didn't tape the audio - I'm sure someone did).
GO SEE VAN HALEN.

Feather-light suspension, Konis just couldn't hold. I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors.
Hey everybody, it's good to have you on the Baba-too-da-ba-too-ba-ba-buh-doo-ga-ga-bop-a-dop
