LEDs are a great choice - they light up faster, and they are brighter. Make sure you don't cheap out when buying them - get ones that project light in all different directions, so the light will fill the housing.

Also, you will prolly need to make a small mod to keep your blinkers from flashing like crazy when you swap to LEDs. Do 4th gen blinkers speed up when you have a light out? If so, this is because of the lack of resistance. With LEDs, you'll get the same effect. They sell a resistor that you can wire inline with the blinkers, or you can take apart and modify your stock flasher so that it won't "warn" you when a light is out.

As far as headlights go, what housings/bulbs were you planning on getting?
