Had a C class a few years back. Never will get a benz again. Bad transmissions. Glad I only leased it, could not wait for it to be up. Even said so when I turned it in. They guy at the dealership said " transmission, right?" Good luck to any that get one.

A. That was a 203 chassis, the WORST car theyve produced in some time, as far as noises, squeaks, and overall driveability problems (especially with the 271 engine the DOHC supercharged 4 cyl). It was manufactured in brazil.
B. Depending on the year, the 722.6 aka 5 speed auto had some issues mainly because the trans cooler would fail causing coolant to get into the trans and it needing to be replaced. The 722.9 aka 7 speed auto has had many issues over the years needing valve bodies and such, but has since been revised and is working rather well. If you had problems, they should have been covered under warranty. If anyone buys a benz thats not under warranty they either have a whole lot of money or have no idea what theyre getting into.

As far as the 7 speed in the C63...Its another reason why mercedes decided to go N/A with their engines. The 722.9 (7 speed) can't handle initial the torque output of their supercharged V8, or the twin turbo v-12 engines. However, the 63 series engine makes all of its power on the top end, revving to like a million RPM. Therefore, they can use the 722.9 in them as theyre trying to phase that transmission into more and more vehicles.
