2008 East Coast F-Body Nationals - Bracket Racing Classes

We had a lot of success, participation and a wide variety of cars take part in the East Coast Nats Bracket Racing last year. Based on this past success we are going to continue to use a similar class structure with only a few tweaks to help encourage participation and clarify some of the rules a bit.

General Rules for All Classes:
All East Coast Nats Bracket Racing Classes will be required to meet NHRA safety requirements for the trap speed and ET they run.
All Bracket Racing Classes will also be run using a .500 Sportsman tree.
All Bracket Racing Classes will also be self-dial.

True Radial Bracket:
Class Outline: This is an entry level class for those new to racing or without cars that are prepared specifically for competition. Running street tire equipped, fully street legal vehicles makes this a great opportunity for those interested in testing the competitive waters.

Electronics: All ET prediction and launch assistance electronic devices prohibited. Including, but not limited to: transbrakes, delay boxes, throttle stops, and any similar ET prediction or control device.

Tire Requirements: We are keeping it to 2 simple rules, minimum treadwear of 150 as stamped on the sidewall of the tire and the tire must have a minimum tread depth of 4/32's.

Exhaust Requirements: Are also being left very simple, if it was sold, marketed, or installed as a noise reduction device in your exhaust, it is a muffler. This allows for all Loudmouth, bullet muffler, single chamber, and straight through style mufflers to be used in this class.

Interior Requirements: Our consideration of a "full interior" is pretty straight forward. Two front seats, they don't have to match but they should both be automotive type seats large enough for an adult to sit in, complete factory appearing dash, full carpet/interior panels(including some sort of door panels), and a console if factory equipped(first and second gens may remove the console since it was factory available that way, but the area must be carpeted)

Chassis Requirements: Stock style suspension required. Modification or relocation of chassis side suspension mounting points prohibited.

Race Tire Bracket:
Class Outline: The Race Tire Bracket is for those who have a car that is a little bit more oriented towards competition than the True Radial Bracket would allow.

Electronics: All ET prediction and launch assistance electronic devices prohibited. Including, but not limited to: transbrakes, delay boxes, throttle stops, and any similar ET prediction or control device.

Tire Requirements: This class is open to any DOT or non-DOT radial or bias ply construction tire. Treaded and full slick tires are acceptable with no limitation on tire size or compound

Exhaust Requirements: Open to any exhaust system with or without mufflers. Open cut outs are acceptable as well.

Interior Requirements: There is no interior requirement. Interior panels may be modified or removed as seen suitable by the vehicle owner. We do ask that the interior be neat and free of any loose items or uncovered wires as these pose a safety risk.

Chassis Requirements: Open to all chassis bolt ons and modified type suspensions. Backhalved, tubbed, and minitubs acceptable.

Pro Dial Bracket:
Class Outline: This is the top level of bracket racing at the East Coast Nats. Open to the advanced bracket racers with well prepared machines.

Electronics: All launch assistance and ET prediction electronics are acceptable.

Bracket Racing Prizes and Awards: TBA, We are working with a variety of potential sponsors and resources to develop a great prize fund. We expect to have some cash to hand out along with those great trophies that you can show off to your friends

Please feel free to contact Tru2Chevy if you have any suggestions to help improve the East Coast Nats Bracket Racing program.
