If it's running OK, then LEAVE IT ALONE. Everything that is put on there is either for emissions or driveablity. Taking it out might just allow TOO MUCH airflow for certain types of throttle positions, such as WOT. Ask someone at a Chevrolet Dealership before you do something that will screw up the idle or affect gas mileage. Just my
