Well, maybe it's just bad luck with the people I know, because almost everyone I know that's graduated college within the last 5-8 years is not at their first job anymore. Most of them either got laid off, had to get new jobs to get higher pay or move up, or completely changed their career. Maybe it's still possible to stay with a company long term, but it's much less common then it was 20+ years ago.
