you should call the labor board to make sure you know what your rights are before you even go to collect your last pay from him.

i would only advise to stop writing emails with him. i would only contact him one more time to find out when you can pick up your last pay. communication beyond that is only going to muddy the waters.

if someone is available to go with you to collect your last pay, like a female friend or relative, then take them. they are less threatening to the employer and tend to pay more attention to what's being said. if you call the labor board and they tell you to do something, do it. they aren't trying to make it difficult for you, they are trying to protect your rights.
