The Springsteen show was most likely at the Convention Center, which is on the boardwalk. The Stone Pony is a small club down the street from there. Was at a handful of shows there in my youth (Life of Agony, Clutch, a few others). Tends to get packed wall to wall. No seats. Mosh pit up front.

One of my fondest metalhead memories took place there. We used to get there early and tailgate. The place was surrounded by buildings that were either falling down or never got finished being built, so it was kind of cool as you could just walk into one of them when nature called. Anyhoo, we got absolutely hammered in the parking lot; by the time one of my buddies got there after work, I was blasted enough to say something that should've started a fist fight. To this day, I'm amazed he still talks to me. When we ran out of beer, me and my other buddy went into the bar next to the Stone Pony for another. Turns out that it was (Don't know if it still is) a gay bar. And there was no carry out. Needless to say, it was the fastest I ever drank a beer. This buddy disappeared from the mosh pit halfway through LOA's set and suddenly reappeared during his favorite song. Still had dried puke on his chin. Good times. One of the best shows EVER.

But I digress. Sorry. The Stone Pony was a pretty cool place to see a show. I'm just too old to enjoy going anymore. I hate crowds now.
