Im 19. My parents really wernt a big part of my life and after 15 they were almost non existent.
At 17 I still knew not to do 100 in a car with 3 other people PERIOD. If I were all alone and felt that the road was suitable to do an excess of 100 I still wouldnt do it unless it was an emergency.
More than likely these kids parents told them not to do such things before, but they chose not to listen. They could have been drinking, maybe trying to be cool but what ever it is they decided not to listen. Its far from the parents fault it really becomes more of a social draw to do stupid things that makes these kids think their cool.
