so, the futures market is to blame for the recent spike in prices. what they don't get is, as the price of gas goes up, we are less likely to use it for recreational purposes. so, what it will boil down to is that only those who need to use gas for their cars to get to work and home will be buying it. all other uses of gasoline will go down. will the price continue to rise, or will they finally understand that it's not about protecting the oil interests, it's about protecting the consumer - the one who ultimately will pay what they charge for a gallon of gas. bring the price back down to what it was two summers ago and watch people start using their vehicles for recreation again (thereby using more gas, which will net them more money in the long run).
