IMO Van Halen is Van Halen. Eddie called the shots and Dave got a little too big for his britches. I love (Dave) Van Halen from my youth. When I grew up, there was Van Halen, and there was "I can't drive 55". Again, IMO when they booted Dave, they lost all appeal. You had Ed doing his thing, and Sammy trying to throw his influence in the mix. While the melding of things usually works, IMO they started out like egg whites. Blended good at first but got overbeaten and broke. Adding Wolfgang into the mix (Again IMO) drove the final nail in the coffin. Music is an art. To throw Wolf in there hinders his real talent, overshadows what his Father has already accomplished and diminishes what Van Halen was with Dave.
Then again I might be biased because Im "Hot for Teacher" (Wifes a HS Teacher)
