What normally fails on the LT1s in the crappy stock pistons, they break aapart around the ring lands. If it wasn't for that I'm sure they could handle a few more LBs.
Pull the nose of the car and start mesuring, something will fit. Heck, I've see cars with the intercooler/exchanrger mounted where the passenger seat should be. You shouldn't have any problem mounting a Vortech unit, that are water air and fairly small yet effective.
I'm running 48lb injectors and making about 480WRHP and I'd guess 525-550HP would max then out. Nice thing is that now you can up to 60LB injectors that are low impedance so you can drive them with a stock computer.
