In theory bump stops are progressive, both by nature of the rubber material and the shape, which softens the blow. At least that is my understanding. Poly ones have no give and come on more or less all at once. Cars do funny things when you nail the bumpstop.
Now in the rear, esp for straight-line, there may be advantages to that, not sure. My education on that is more related to the front. This reminds me, I need to get new front bump stops for the Z.
