Just guessing - the L72 might have had different (but similar) heads. Kind of like the -049 and -781 open chamber 454 heads which were pretty much identical except one was used in '73 and the other in '74.

Either way, I wish I had the cash for these things. I have a November '68 built '69 and I'd love to build a good L72 clone. Would you take an LT1 T56 and cash in trade? LOL.
