I think what I had seen before - a 3rd gen would go for about $14K, all built up, ready to race, ready to meet track rules AND with some 'tricks' done, as well as some 'decent go-fast' (suspension) pieces. But that was some years ago....I can check back if'n anyone is still REALLY interested....they'd know more about this hittiing the east coast....and if'n I remember right, they DO race 'nationals' in Ohio.....

I'm more interested in building my own car. It'd be more fun than to just buy a car all prepped already. =)

It has to be equiped with a manual trans, no auto. It has to have the correct engine, which means that if you use a third gen, that means 305. Now they dont break down the engine as there is some sort of honor system saying you have a 305 engine, but you have to have it stock appearing.
This puts third gens at a disadvantage unless you build up 302, bore it out to .020 or so, and you have a 305 or in that range...
LT1 and LS1 cars have the power advantage, but they are given restrictor plates and other power robbing things to even the field out.
Id like to find a V6 car and just go to town on it. Some other rag was doing an article abotu some high school in Cali who was going to give it a shot. They were welding all the sheetmetal seams together for strength, giving it a tubular kmemeber from Spohn, and some other goodies.

Yeah I do believe that the engines have to stay with the same generation, but I did see that they have a point system. The more mods you make they give you points and you get bumped up a class.
