Lotus actually uses GM's Ecotec in Europe and Toyota's 1.8 in America. The Lotus Exige and the old Vauxhaul VXR220 as well as Opel Speedster were the same car. The Speedster was replaced by the front engined, RWD, Saturn Sky aka now the Opel GT.

What would be funny is if Pontiac brought this over years ago as the 2nd generation Fiero. If GM worked globally then like they do now, its very easy to see that it could have been.
Lotus is owned by a small Mylasian automotive firm I belive. Lotus was owned by GM at some point.
Aston Martain is owend by its race team, Pro Drive and some other investors.
Land Rover and Jag are both owned by Tata motors.
Ford had a big sell off to gain some capitial.
