Guys like the one that wrote the letter are why I hate going to car shows, and would rather go to a cruise night and sit around and BS about cars and look at the craftsmanship, with no awards to win. Personally, I also don't see the joy in owning something that has 305 trophies and needs a force field around it to protect it.
Damn, get out there and drive the car, that's what it was built for! I applaud guys like camaroracer1992; he's got a show-quality 10-second car, and enjoys wailing on it at the track instead of letting it be a garage ornament.
