I'm reading where it says there is a .004 maximum variation and that would mean if the ideal backlash is .008 then it should read between .008-.012 max. Do I take this to mean that if I want a "tight" setup then I should simply try for .008, and not settle for .012? BUT not go any tighter than .008?

BUT not go any tighter than .008? __________________ 1979 RS weighs 3580 lbs. with me in it. 406 w/ Victor Jr, Pro Systems 850 CFM carb, Pro Topline 220cc heads, solid roller cam with .630 lift, 264-270 duration @.050, Ross -5cc mini dome racing pistons, 12.5 to 1 compression, Forged crank and rods, splayed 4 bolt mains, 1.875" headers.
