and FYI actually unless hes using Carbon fiber, its not that expensive compared to buyind a 300-400 dollar hood. and its not that hard to learn, thus why I said if he cant do certain things, have a friend who knows how to to help.

Cold air is not the function in question. He needs to fit a high rise intake manifold under a hood that does not look hideous. That's the primary need. Not how to maximize power. If he wants that he can add it later with a 'turkey pan' or something like that.
And sure, he can try to make his own hood but the chance of success is pretty low (not a direct dig at you WF, plenty of people can't do this). Most people can't even attach a fiberglass scoop to a fiberglass hood and end up using pop rivets.
In this case spending the $200-300 bucks is a good idea, since building his own looks like it would be a whole bucket full of fail.
