And sure, he can try to make his own hood but the chance of success is pretty low (not a direct dig at you WF, plenty of people can't do this). Most people can't even attach a fiberglass scoop to a fiberglass hood and end up using pop rivets.
In this case spending the $200-300 bucks is a good idea, since building his own looks like it would be a whole bucket full of fail.

...im just saying for his car, it would be nice to have something other then the usual for clearance. if he wants, then go get a 2.5 cowl instead of a 4 inch cowl
