since you were planning on building the crap out of the 9 inch anyways...you dont necessarily have to get one from a mustang...plenty of ford passenger cars came with 9inches
just have to take into account the width etc. but you are going to have to modify a 9inch to fit under your chevy no matter what i believe
get your desired set of gears and a detroit locker, or whatever you prefer
easy way to tell a 9inch is looking from the rear of the car if there is no differential cover
