Been thinking and I dunno actually, I may be wrong here. Someone jump in here and correct me if I'm wrong. I'm curious too, because I'm sure cheaper is out there, but is it worth it?

A good H/C setup, including upgraded valvetrain would probably run about $2500 on average...you figure $1500-2000 for good heads, $600-750 for the cam/valvetrain. That's almost LS6 territory on its own.

Then if you wanted to freshen up the shortblock you'd be looking at something like $700-1000 for stock internals or $1500 for really sick forged parts. Figure $200 for all the gaskets/hardware you'd need, cause for that money I wouldn't take a chance reusing ANYTHING. Then you'd want an LS6 oil pump, they're cheap but still like $130 or so I believe. Then you have to rip it all apart and build it...fun, yea, but tedious.

Or, at 3400, you get the LS6 and just plug & play. Aside from the throttle body and I think oil pan they're basically the exact same thing externally. You get a motor built by GM professionals with a warranty and everything. And skip the cam if you do it...trust me you won't need it.
