GM has consistantly gotten top marks in quality, unlike Ford who had to advertise they finally caught up to the Jap companies.
GM also has more 5star safety rated cars and trucks than any other manufacturer.
GM has the lowest priced hybrids on the market, Motorweek pitted the Malibu against the Toyota and figured out you would only have to drive the import 250,000 miles for the difference in mileage to make up for the difference in price, and that was using $4 a gallon, it would take longer now that gas has gone down.
GM even has several zero landfill, zero waste, and renewable power facilities to keep the hippies happy.
How can a company with so many things going right gt it so wrong, so consistantly.

That is there current problem, they dont know what to do with what they have. It continues to be a problem. There are only some very small bright spots in GM's marketing, but overall it comes off like crap.
GM does lead in a lot of different segments for fuel economy and technology. But there is also a slant on GM's greatness. GM's Volt is contantly being shot down for whatever it can, yet Toyota makes a Plug In Prius that can only go 5-10 miles on a charge, and everyone hoops it up!!
GM puts out 300 Hydrogen powerd Equinox's in 3 major cities, GM gets a little blurb. Honda puts out a funky looking Civic that runs on Hydrogen, only 100 units, and only in Cali, and they are praised on every major news network and puplication, with rips to the Big 3 that they dont have a car this advanced.
There is a multi-faceted problem with GM. One thing, it is finally starting to make GREAT cars. Really really good cars, with really nice style. GM just now needs to know what to do with all of it. That is still the problem.
