Olds died for many reasons. After tons of investment in special chassis, engines, and other technology, Olds's sales kept falling. If anything, Olds was too close to Buick.

Buick does too well in China for them to get rid of it.

Gen V's should be a great engine, and if rumors are true, there will be a DOHC version of it.

The 4 and 6cyl engines should stay where they are. Pushrods tend not to have such great advantages for smaller engines.
Ecotecs are outstanding.
HF V6's are also outstanding.
GM will be rolling out a new generation of 4cyl's called Family Zero. It will show up on the Volt, new Cruze and a few other engines.
