Why can't you be both? MOS's 0614/0618 are Switchboard Operators and there is a reserve Comm Battalion in New York (I believe). You could also be a 2821 Technical Controller which is pretty much what I did after I lat moved out of the grunts. PM me if ya want. I did Marine Comm for 5 years before I got out. To tell you the truth, I worked with almost all Service branches and they almost always use the same type of equipment.
