That's 17 years of hearing the English language my friend. My grandmother came to the country in 1982. She had no intent on speaking the language, And If I remember correct, by 1999 she spoke pretty good english just due to the exposure of the language. So for you to say that your parents still don't know english after 17 years, I don't think they are trying too hard. Now I'm not saying they don't belong here or any immigrant shouldn't be here because they don't know the language. As long as they're here LEGALLY, I could care less. And I'm with Justin as far as they shouldn't have a job that directly interacts with people (customers) if they can't speak the language.
