I recently got out of the service, US Marine corps, and the best officers we had were mustangs, guys who were enlisted before going officer. A lot of new officers that I had worked with were clueless about things, yet walked around with a chip on their shoulder because as much of a dumb ass that they were, us enlisted still had to respect them, salute them. Dont get me wrong, some that we got that were fresh new Lt's were good to go and I would go anywhere with, but others I, as an NCO, would have to put in the right direction and wouldn't trust them going anywhere in charge of other marines.
