I assume you're talking about the Wifi connection. Sure it's faster when it's available.
I haven't been able to use it on campus yet so it's pretty useless to me. Oh, and it doesn't support VPN but that's another issue.
But anyways, I didn't buy the phone for the internet browsing. When I needed it it worked flawlessly though.

I think Iphone/Itouch typing is a lot worse. Yes I have both, and use both on daily basis.
