and the reason i vote for 2 cats is because it seems like running 1 at the merge of the Y would position it so far back that it may not heat up enough to function properly. when i got inspected they never even popped the hood let alone look under the vehicle for cats, so i'd be more worried about failing smog than the visual. if a shop is strict enough to fail you for adding a cat, they're going to fail you for repositioning the 1 anyway. no way you can keep it in the same place with longtubes.
not to mention the benefits flow-wise.
