GM makes a decent amount of money off the car, at least its a profit. Profit margin grows with higher end model, but considering its sales numbers, its profitbable and thats all that matters.
Nascar hasnt helped **** since the 60's.
When I was invited to go see the the CTS-V team race at Lime Rock, they took us into the CTS-V race trailer, and they talked about how they could beam the telematics and vehicle info to GMPD to give feedback on the production car. The lessones learned with the CTS-VR program translated into what we have today, for not only the V series, but for the regular cars itself. Chassis redesign for the 2nd generation CTS was a direct result of the racing program.
The current Z06 was because GM was given a choice by ALMS: Make the Corvette Race car closer to production, or make the production closer to the race car.
THATS why it got the LS7.
My hope is that whatever is learned with Camaro's entry into Grand Sport is translated into a Z28.
