I haven't parted a car myself, but the guy who I bought the motor for my camaro off of is still parting his car a long time after he started. It takes a long time. If you've got the space, it may be in your interest to remove what you feel is good, and store it in the attic or basement. When someone needs something you'd have it ready to go. Once you get it that far there are scrappers who would probably pay a bit for whats left. Also, it may work for you selling just the drivetrain, and selling the car as a roller.
All in all, not sure if you would come out ahead of what your inital investment was. I think parting is more of a quick way to make a couple bucks.
