Even now, its still not a bad buy. My brother bought a few hundred shares a few months ago at around 3 bucks a share.
Almost 2 years ago, Ford looked as if it didnt know what it was doing
It had arguably the worst line up of any of the American automakers.
It was selling every thing they had.
And its sales were falling.
What is holding Ford above water was the big sell out. They used that cash to keep their heads above water, while GM and Chrysler picked up the goverment check.
At this point, its a perception game. Ford's product still havent improved that much. New Fusion and Taurus are great, Mustang has a nice revision, but the rest of thier line up is behind thier repsective class.
Focus is still a turd. How anyone buys that ugly POS over a Civic is beyond me. Only good part for Ford is that the Cobalt is still around.
Next year, both companies bring out replacements.
Linc and Merc still have no direction, nor does Ford sound like they have a plan for them. Merc is just sitting out waiting to die I guess while Linc isnt trying to go after anyone, they are just making nicer Fords.
Biggest advantage Ford has right now is that they have cash, so they didnt have to put thier hand out, therefor having a better image in the eyes of Americans.
