Hey everyone, quick question.

Long story short, I have FiOS for my TV service and recently got a slingbox (http://www.slingmedia.com/)

I don't want to rent another HD box from Verizon, I'd rather find a permanent one time fee solution or at least a cheaper way of doing things. I found out I can get a CableCARD with a DCR ready receiver and rent a card for 2.99 a month to replace their proprietary cable box. Anyone ever do this or know of a really cheap HD box that will work with FiOS? Thanks!
