you'll want to keep that to yourself. a lot of people brag about whatever training they've had and it gets obnoxious, especially the young ones. keep quiet, do what you're told and you'll breeze through it.
i went through basic in '82. seems like a lifetime ago. the only thing you want to volunteer for is flag holder. then keep low until you graduate. same thing with AIT. be respectful, follow the rules and keep your head down. there is no sense in telling anyone anything about your past, unless you become friends and then it's only the rough outline of your life. keep details like they were national secrets.
getting married before basic used to be the norm, but now it's the exception. most guys want to remain single so that they can sample the strange in other countries. just remember that everything you think about your wife is thinking the same thing. if you can keep it in your pants and she can remain faithful for months at a time without seeing you, then you may be able to succeed with the marriage. but, imo, marriage is difficult enough without adding any stressors like being away from each other for months at a time.
