no it should ride fine, its just for clearance and weight savings really i guess. sprocket guards aren't fun at all. it will ride pretty much just like any other setup you have ridden. i would maybe think about a chain tensioner though. seeing as you are just getting back into it, you may be casing a bit and landing on the back tire hard sometimes. if the back tire pushes forward in the drop out, well thats just no fun at all
