I'm afraid of what big business, low profit margin/high volumes will do to the health of our generation. Put that on top of preservatives, and quick fixes for everything (think microwave dinners with low quality meat and plastic that permeates the food) We're supposed to be a much more "educated" and "technological" generation now, but how all that and crooked corporations are going to impact our health remains to be seen.
Many of them also smoked, ate a lot of fats, didn't go to the doctor, didn't exercise, drank a lot, and were not cautious about their own health. They were also less sedentary. I think with the awareness of more and more health issues today we should be a lot better off when we are older. Regarding the organic food- a collection of over 80 studies of organic food just completed in the EU, and no health benefits were proven in support of eating organically. That's not to say that one shouldn't error on the side of caution and eat organic wherever possible (I do... in fact I try to eat food that has been "processed" as little as possible) but our health systems are just so much better now. Food quality is a small slice of the whole pie. They didn't have biopsies, MRI machines, and neurosurgery growing up- we do.
