There's another great story like this one, that i can't find right now....But this woman in the Bronx had her MacBook stolen. She used the"Back To My Mac" feature took a picture of the idiot as he was using her laptop. Brought the pic to the police.....as the story goes she got her computer back.

Most phones don't have GPS at all. What is much more likely is that they used cell tower triangulation.
