you know, just as a aside, i wonder what numbers they will cook up to announce "success!" to the cash for clunkers program? you know statistics can be used to support any point of view, so i will steer clear of any number ending with the % sign. but i wonder how "successful" they really were? had the cars truly lived out their normal lifespan, causing more harm than good to keep them on the road? if the bump in mpg was really that significant, considering the time period we're talking about... and how much of a disaster is it going to be to destroy those cars and have them sit in some junkyard/landfill? part of the terms of the 'law' was that nothing could be salvaged from the vehicle...
anyway, you can have your prius. i'll take a chevy volt, please. well, i would, if i were in the market for an electric car.
and, tony, notice i said "bulk of the money", not "all of the money". everyone is aware of the total percentage of foreign parts in our "american made" vehicles. but the bulk of the money stays here.
