because we all know that moving the distributor from the top of the motor in a clean DRY area, to under the water pump that's cam driven, is a bulletproof design. LT1 aint nuthin but a SBC with roller lifters and a fancy intake manifold. move a few bolt holes add a crappy distributor and bam!! boat anchor (sarcasm, don't get all butthurt cause its not accurate)
