I'd take a nice clean well optioned 91-92 GTA or Z28 over a slow, cookie cutter run of the mill LT1 4thgen any day of the week, some people like what they like but what's so special about a 93-94 Fbody? Absolutely nothing aside from the supposed ego that comes with it(which is comical).***For the record I'm just busting balls, I know you hate 3rdgens...I must defend my brethren. 
Anyway, prices with 3rdgens are weird, some people think they've been touched by God regardless of the condition, others have a clue as to what they're worth. Unfortunately people see SO many clapped out, junked ones for $800 that they start to think that EVERY ONE should be priced that way. Since there are fewer and fewer nice ones the one that have survived are getting top dollar.
I still feel bad for what I paid for mine....I felt like I should have been charged with grand theft auto, lol. The mileage is high(quite frankly the motor is a ticking time bomb even though it's still running well) but you could barely buy the procharger for what the price I got the car for, so there ARE deals out there...you just have to find them.
