The thing is that GM needs to follow a media mix type model for marketing the new Camaro. For cars like the Buick Lacrosse and ZR1 the type of people buying them will be primarily watching TV for entertainment, so spending a lot on commercials makes sense. For the Camaro, the type of people in its target market do other things in their spare time as they are younger. So an online marketing campaign, contests, Facebook ads, etc will suck up some of the commercial budget. However, there still needs to be SOME Camaro commercials out there. Just not an all-or-nothing type campaign.
But GM, although not bankrupt, is still broke-ass. So they can't do much MR to figure it out.
