Z24 and the like took the familiarity of the Z nomenclature and expanded it across the board for all Chevy's.
They did the same for SS badge.
Z28 was the RPO code for the Trans Am spec Camaro.
The Z28 vs GT500 will have a pretty even playing field in weight and power. Its gunna come down to the details to decide this.
