If you are going to do a 503, get a good converter and some good tires and see how she does.
Isn't a Revmax converter just a cavalier converter? I wouldn't want to throw any sort of power at it and they aren't going to be efficient. When the $400 you saved lets go and you now need a trans, I'll chuckle a little.
