Daily Driver fun
Well, I didn't know some of the guys were gonna be at Island last night but for those who were there....
Yes, I ran the daily driver Subaru Outback, and no I didn't care if I ran 20s.
Actually I did better than 20s. But that Yellow 57 Bel Air would have beat my ass down the strip....DAMN!
Ran it three times
Run one, Screwed up the launch as the engine bogged down big time... 19.133 @ 72.9 MPH Ran against a Camaro that pretty much ran away...
Run two, better but still screwed up the launch though I dropped the clutch at around 2500... 18.691 @ 75.74 MPH
Run three, best of the bunch against a new ZR1 Vette... YES I'd like that pic...LMAO!!! Anyway, the vette got out of it so its misleading but I ran 18.125 @ 76.76 MPH, to the vette's 13.4 with a 76.86 trap. Thing that surprised me however was I almost took the vette at 60 ft. I had a 2.612 60 ft time to the vette's 2.428.
I probably could have broken into the 17s, but the best time came at a clutch drop of 4000-4200 RPMs, I figured if I was gonna try to run faster I was going to break something. So settled for that best time and parked it. But my car has 221,000 miles on it. Compared to Motor Trends specs for a 2000 Outback like mine with a auto trans an 600 miles on it, it shows the auto vs manual deal I usually see. The auto had a 17.9 ET with a 75.2 trap. I was a couple ticks back but had the higher trap speed by far. Didn't help that I had to shift to 4th before hitting the traps.
Next time I'm there, I'll have a more proper car.... I may try to run the GTA at the meet Saturday. Should be more fun, to say the least......
So for those who don't have F bodies or are bringing the daily drivers, don't be scared, run what you bring. A few people told me it was fun to watch that thing go down for ****s and giggles. Now where do I find a twin turbo setup for an EJ25 boxer motor?
