A big part of the Cosworth appeal to me is the fact that the car itself was great for the times. Neutral handling, good stiffness, etc. Kind of like my buddy's '84 SVO.
The lack of cyl liners is a death sentence IMO. Would have to tear it open and have steel installed so I could drive it.
You can have a 302 without the need for a verified DZ. And that's being short sighted for all of the '67 and 68 Z's
