Like Jim said, I think its for pure entertainment value. A lot of car rags get letters like this about how people shoud do more low buck stuff. Putting on these high dollar parts is for pure entertainment value. I would love to make a roadster with a supercharged small block, and I plan on doing it with my little brother so when he finaly gets his "freedom" in 9 years, he will have an awesome ride to drive to school. 8)
If you wanted to watch a good show, you should watch Chop, Cut, Rebuild. The show was about these 3 cars, The Supervan, a 1970 Chevelle, and a 1990 Ranger. They also had a few other cars on there like a super-WRX, and a older Suburban. The Supervan was restored back to its original look back inthe 70's, the Chevelle was turned into an awesome g-machine, and the Ranger was turned into a show truck. To watch them put these cars together was great, even if the show itself was very boring. They delt with the rust and problems that happens when you do a build up.
